It is our pleasure to inform you that TUMS will accept qualified and interested applicants for the September 2014 M.D. program and the January 2015 D.D.S. program.
Admission is open all year round, and you can apply right now, but TUMS School of Medicine starts M.D program in September of each year and it starts D.D.S program in January of each year.
General Information
Language of Instruction
Classes during the first 2 years of the program are held in English, but the rest of the M.D. program (the third year onwards) will be held in Persian.
D.D.S. classes, in their early sessions, are held in English, but the rest of the D.D.S. program will be held in Persian.
During this period, students are required to improve their knowledge of Persian since the language of interaction with patients is Persian/Farsi. If you do not have the knowledge of Persian language, you have to attend the Persian classes offered by TUMS in Dehkhoda Persian Language Institute.
Class Location:
The Programs & Persian language learning classes will be held in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
Duration of the Program:
D.D.S. courses last at least 5-6 years. The Semester-Based Curriculum of D.D.S. program is also available.
M.D. courses last at least 7 years. The Semester-Based Curriculum of M.D. program is also available.
Commencement of Studies:
At Tehran University of Medical Sciences, students accepted for M.D. and D.D.S programs start their studies in September of each year.
TUMS Financial Aids
TUMS offers two types of scholarships: Type C and Type B scholarships.
Type C Scholarship:
The details of your expenses for the first year of your studies at TUMS are provided in the table below:
Visa & Registration: 50 U.S. Dollar Only Once
First Transport from Airport in Tehran: 25 U.S. Dollar Only Once
Furnished Accommodation: 3650 U.S. Dollar Every Year
Insurance: 60 U.S. Dollar Every Year
Persian Language Classes: 140 U.S. Dollar Every Semester
Tuition Fee: 7500 U.S. Dollar for D.D.S program and 7000 U.S Dollar for M.D program Every Year
TUMS provides all students with computer labs, library, and Wi-Fi Internet access at the dormitories, as well as a partial lunch plan. If you apply for TUMS type C scholarship and you are accepted, TUMS provides you with:
– free-of-charge visa & registration,
– free first transport from airport in Tehran,
– free accommodation,
– free health & sport insurance,
– free Persian classes for your first year.
All of the above-mentioned facilities, which totally cost $3925, will be paid by TUMS.
And from your second year onwards, TUMS provides you with:
– free-of-charge accommodation,
– free health & sport insurance,
– free Persian classes.
All of the above-mentioned facilities, which totally cost $3850, will be paid by TUMS.
Type B Scholarship:
If you apply for TUMS scholarships and you are considered as one of the most qualified applicants, you may be accepted for type B scholarship;
Type B Scholarship is a Tuition-Waiver
Some qualified applicants may be accepted to receive one of the TUMS tuition-waiver scholarships (between 1% to 100% discount for the first-year tuition fee), based on their scores obtained in previous degrees. In this case, you might receive between 1 up to 100 percent discount on your first-year tuition fee, and you should pay the rest of the remaining tuition fee. Based on this scholarship, the awarded amount of your first-year tuition fee will be paid by TUMS. This scholarship (tuition-waiver) is for your first academic year and can be extended by the TUMS Scholarship Committee on a yearly basis depending on your academic performance at TUMS.

20 June 2014 for D.D.S program and 31 July 2014 for M.D program.
