2014 Prospectus for NMG-NUST Joint Scholarship Program
In order to attract more outstanding international students to study at Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST), Nanjing Government and NUST have jointly set up the scholarship program.
I. Basic Information and Duration of the Scholarships:
1. Type and Coverage of scholarships
1) Full Scholarship for Graduate
- Tuition and fees for registration, laboratory experiments, internship, basic learning materials and intramural accommodation;
- Living allowance: CNY 2,000 per month for doctoral students; CNY 1,700 per month for master's degree student;
- Accommodation on campus：Single room for doctoral students; Double-bed room for master students;
-By showing Family Membership Certificate issued by China Embassy or General Consulate, married graduates who carry with family members can ask for accommodation allowance from NUST. CNY18,000 per year for doctoral students; CNY 9,000 per year for master students;
- Medical care and Accidental Injury and Hospitalization Medical Treatment Insurance;
- The one-off settlement subsidy for new students after registration: CNY 1,500 per person.
2) Partial scholarship for Graduate
- Tuition and fees for registration, laboratory experiments, internship, basic learning materials;
- Accidental Injury and Hospitalization Medical Treatment Insurance;
3) Full Scholarship for Undergraduate
- Tuition and fees for registration, laboratory experiments, internship, basic learning materials;
- Accidental Injury and Hospitalization Medical Treatment Insurance;
- Accommodation on campus：4-bed room
4) Partial Scholarship for Undergraduate
- Tuition and fees for registration, laboratory experiments, internship, basic learning materials;
- Accidental Injury and Hospitalization Medical Treatment Insurance;
2. Number of Winning Students:
1) Full Scholarship for Graduate: 20 for doctoral students, 60 for master students
2) Partial scholarship for Graduate: 40 for master students
3) Scholarship for Undergraduate: 120
4) Partial Scholarship for Undergraduate: 60
3. Duration of the Scholarships
- Doctoral Degree Students: 4 academic years
- Master's Degree Students: 2.5 academic years
- Bachelor's Degree Students: 4 academic years
Note: Applicants who apply for courses instructed in Chinese must have a good command of Chinese language. If their Chinese proficiency has not reached the requirement of our institution for professional learning, they are required to take one-year remedial Chinese language courses and pass the relevant test prior to the studies in their specialties. For those who take the one-year remedial Chinese language courses, the duration of the scholarship will be extended correspondingly.
Scholarship students must go through the Annual Review of the NMG-NUST Joint Scholarship Status. Scholarship will be terminated if the student fails to fulfill the requirements.
II. Eligibility Requirements
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals and in good health.
2. Education background and age limit:
- Applicants for undergraduate programs must have senior high school diploma when registered and be under the age of 28;
- Applicants for master degree program must have bachelor degree when registered and be under the age of 35;
- Applicants for doctoral degree program must have master degree when registered and be under the age of 40
3. Applicants should have a competitive academic record.

IV. Application Documents
Applicants shall fill in and submit the application online http://admission.njust.edu.cn/ first and then submit the application documents or photocopies as followed (each in duplicate) to the School of International Education, Nanjing University of Science & Technology, by post mail or in person:
1. Application Form for Nanjing Municipal Government—Nanjing University of Science & Technology Joint Scholarship Program for International Student (download：Application Form.doc) filled in Chinese or in English.
2. Photocopy of the applicant's passport.
3. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If applicants are university students, they must also provide documents showing their status as university students or School Transfer Certificate. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translation in Chinese or in English.
4. Applicants for doctoral studies need to provide notarized copies of their undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
Applicants for master degree studies need to provide notarized copies of their undergraduate transcripts.
Applicants for bachelor degree studies need to provide notarized copies of their high school transcripts.
Note: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translation in Chinese or English.
5. Applicants for graduate studies need a study or research proposal in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words).
6. Applicants for graduate studies need two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). Letters must include professors’ phone number and email address.
7. Published academic papers or other academic achievements (if applicable).
8. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (download：Physical Examination Record.doc) (printed by Chinese quarantine authority). Applicants are expected to keep the original copies filled in English. The medical examination must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration as they plan to take the medical examination.
9. Applicants for graduate are encouraged to contact their prospective supervisors prior to application and are expected to enclose in their application packages with the Form for Provisional Acceptance of International Student by NUST Professor (download：Acceptance Form.doc).
Note: Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of the result.
V. Admission and Notification
Application deadline: July 10, 2014.
Applicants can submit the application documents or photocopies (refer to section IV below) to the School of International Education, Nanjing University of Science & Technology, by post mail or in person.
Date of Scholarship result：July 20, 2014
Notification: The result will be published on the university website AND sent to applicants via E-mail (please ensure your email address is correct). NUST will send the Admission Notice and JW202 form once we get the confirmation from winners by the email.
VI. Notes
1. Scholarship students who have to suspend their studies due to illness must return to their home country for further treatment and recovery. Expenses for the international travel to and from the university will be borne by the students themselves, and their scholarship status will be reserved for one year at most, with the monthly living allowance stopped during the suspension. Scholarships of the students who suspend their studies for reasons other than illness will not be reserved.
2. The School of International Education, Nanjing University of Science & Technology，is responsible for the interpretation of the scholarship granting procedures and regulations.
